On November 30, the company organized a special training session on "Management and Practical Guidelines for Hazardous and Solid Waste" for supervisors and above, held in the large conference room on the second floor of the office building. The training was led by Chen Zhihui, Assistant to the General Manager and Head of the Safety & Environmental Protection Department.
During the training, Chen Zhihui, drawing on the company's specific circumstances, provided a comprehensive explanation covering four key areas: "the composition of HuaZhu's solid waste, the requirements outlined in the national Solid Waste Law, how we should manage these wastes, along with relevant management standards, inspection frequencies, and penalty regulations." He detailed the types and disposal methods for hazardous and solid wastes generated across all units and departments within the company. Additionally, he clarified the precise meaning of Article 77 from the new National Solid Waste Law, which mandates that "containers and packaging for hazardous waste, as well as facilities and sites used for the collection, storage, transportation, utilization, and disposal of hazardous waste, must be equipped with designated hazardous waste identification signs as required." Finally, he outlined the company’s internal guidelines for managing hazardous and solid waste, specifying the company’s established standards, inspection schedules, and corresponding penalty measures. Before concluding the session, participants were assessed and reinforced their understanding through a written test designed to evaluate their grasp of the training content.
Strengthening the management of solid waste pollution is crucial for safeguarding ecological and environmental resources, fostering socio-economic development, and enhancing the quality of people's living environments. The recent release of the new "Solid Waste Law" will accelerate the supervision and control of solid waste pollution, driving improvements in everyday waste management practices and boosting overall socio-economic progress. Moreover, it plays a pivotal role in raising public awareness about environmental protection among China's population. This initiative clearly underscores the nation's commitment to addressing solid waste pollution, reflecting its deep concern for both the people's living conditions and their long-term health and well-being.
